Exploring feelings, relationships, time and change, it is richly metaphoric. Its words and images (whatever they may signify in terms of the writer's experience) work for us through these modes of connection, recognition and displacement by which we can read our own (and other) thoughts and experience in the figures of this expression. The method is presented in the first poem, I Want Nothing: 'Please accept/these little/red flowers/as long as/your road/lies my/way.' And as we proceed, the 'red flowers' become variable markers of experience. They are colourful and robust, delicate and fading, and always part of those larger contexts of place and time, and changing experience within which they burst upon us.
